3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: ENG 2860 or Permission of instructor This course will survey the evolution of cinema from the end of the nineteenth century into the twenty-first. Course work will include reading about the history of cinema and relating film excerpts to various historical contexts, world wide. Films to be viewed in their entirety and subjected to analytical critique will be viewed outside class.
