3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: ENG 1010 or its equivalent ENG 1020 is a course in the process of writing extended essays supported by research. The course includes an introduction to library use, research techniques, and the conventions of MLA and APAstyles of documentation as well as practice in critical reading, thinking, and writing across the disciplines. Students can expect to do a series of shorter writing and research assignments leading to the longer, documented paper. Many sections of ENG 1020 include hands-on instruction on the use of the computer in research and writing in a computer lab. (General Studies-Level I, Composition) (GT-CO2)
