3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: ANT 1310 or CHS 1000; or Permission of the instructor This course will help the student to analyze the various elements of folklore from verbal to nonverbal classifications, survivals, revivals, and the implications for modern society. Folklore will be studies in a historical and contemporary context. The student will gain an understanding of both the universality and variability of folklore through many global examples compared and contrasted with a regional focus on the folklore of the American Southwest.
