3 (3+0) Prerequisite: ARTH 1600 or Permission of instructor This course is a survey of the art of India, China, and Japan. It will include a study of the cultural, historical, and religious factors that have influenced the development of visual cultures in these three particular civilizations. A key theme is the interaction among cultural traditions not only within India, China, and Japan but also through international processes of trade, colonialism, and nationalism. Special attention will be placed on works found in the Denver Art Museum.
