3 (3 + 0) Prerequisite: ANT 1310 or CHS 1000; or Permission of the instructor This course will help the student to analyze the various elements of folklore from verbal to non-verbal classifications, survivals, revivals, and the implications for modern society. Folklore will be studies in a historical and contemporary context. The student will gain an understanding of both the universality and variability of folklore through many global examples compared and contrasted with a regional focus on the folklore of the American Southwest.
