1 credit This course is designed for outstanding freshman calculus students. It offers them an introduction to mathematical concepts normally reserved for upper division courses. Sample topics include: fundamentals of axiomatic systems; great theorems of number theory; non-Euclidean geometry; Cantor's theory of transfinite numbers and the nondenumerability of the continuum; Godel's incompletenesstheorem; basic topology; surprising aspects of probability and statistics; introduction to game theory. This course will be graded on a Pass/No Credit basis. Prerequisites: Grade of B or higher in M151or in M152, or consent of the instructor
