Explores a variety of personal and public policy issues in light of basic feminist commitment to opposing women's subordination. Provides students not only with a deeper understanding of the specific issues discussed but also with a sense of the ways in which a principled commitment to feminism may influence and be influenced by prevailing interpretations of contemporary ideals and values (such as freedom, equality, and community). Provides an opportunity to develop skills of critical analysis useful in a wide range of contexts. Prereq., WMST 2000 or 2290, and junior or senior standing. Same as PHIL 3110. Approved for arts and sciences core curriculum: ideals and values or critical thinking.
