Focuses on the development of perceptual, descriptive, and analytical skills as well as the ability to apply cultural and critical theory to 20th and 21st century concert dance. Specific pieces of choreography are looked at from a broad range of perspectives, including formalist, Marxist and feminist theory, Laban Analysis, Race studies and deconstruction. Special attention is paid to the point of view, roll and impact of the observer. Approved for arts and sciences core curriculum: literature and the arts.
