Explores selected Six Dynasties and Tang prose works, emphasizing major writers and texts. Covers works written in both parallel prose and the guwen ("old-style") form. Individual writers include such figures as Wang Xizhi, Tao Qian, Li Hua, Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, and Liu Yuxi. In addition, selected works from the anecdotal records are read. Texts and selectionsvary from year to year. May be repeated up to 6 total credit hours. Prereq., CHIN 4220 or instructor consent.
