Description: In this course, participants will be invited to read, enjoy, ponder, discuss and engage in a wide range of excellent books for children. Class members will explore various authors and illustrators of children? books and become familiar with resources available concerning children? literature; read professional literature framing classroom discussions on how to use literature effectively and authentically in the classroom. Through these opportunities and experiences, participants will establish a foundation for sharing and using literature in the classroom.Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Typical structure: 1 hour colloquium, 1 hour lecture, 1 hour workshop. Usually offered: Fall, Spring.
