Description: The course encompasses the greater Southwest, including northern Mexico from pre-Columbian times to the present. Evidence from archaeology, ethnology, linguistics, and biological anthropology is integrated. Emphasis is placed on the interaction of Indian, Hispanic, and Euroamerican peoples and their adaptation to and exploitation of the natural environment through time. Graduate-level requirements include a 10 page research paper. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Equivalent to: ANTH518 Mutually Exclusive: Credit allowed for only one of these courses: ANTV 518 or ANTH 518 May be convened with: ANTV 418. Usually offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
