Description: Standard inorganic laboratory preparations, including coordination compounds, isomeric, organometalic, bioinorganic, air sensitive compounds, and compounds typifying the groups of the periodic table. High temperature, inert atmosphere, materials synthesis, and characterization of products by various spectroscopic techniques. This is a Writing Emphasis Course. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Special course fee required: $70. Prerequisite(s): or Concurrent registration, CHEM 404, two semesters of laboratory chemistry beyond the first year or consent of instructor. Satisfaction of the Mid-Career Writing Assessment (MCWA). May be convened with: CHEM 512. Usually offered: Fall, Spring.
