Description: This course examines the theoretical and methodological issues related to museum studies. Topics will include the history of display, changing roles of museums, museums and communities, the politics of collecting, and exhibition design. Graduate-level requirements include additional reading that is of a more challenging nature and to produce a more substantial paper. (20 pages for graduates and 10-15 for undergraduates). Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Typical structure: 2 hours lecture, 1 hour discussion. May be repeated: for a total of 9 units of credit. May be convened with: ARH 400. Usually offered: Fall, Spring.
