Description: The course encompasses the greater Southwest, including northern Mexico from pre-Columbian times to the present. Evidence from archaeology, ethnology, linguistics, and biological anthropology is integrated. Emphasis is placed on the interaction of Indian, Hispanic, and Euroamerican peoples and their adaptation to and exploitation of the natural environment through time. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. Equivalent to: ANTV418 Mutually Exclusive: Credit allowed for only one of these courses: ARL 418 or ANTV 418 Identical to: ANTH 418; ANTH is home department. May be convened with: ARL 518.
