Description: This course presents selections of Arabic poetry from a variety of different time periods, from pre-Islamic, to Muslim Spain (Andalusia). Each poem will be analyzed in light of modern literary criticism and its infinitely rich and highly articulated language Grading: Regular or alternative grades can be awarded for this course: A B C D E or S P C D E. Prerequisite(s): three years of Arabic for non-native speakers of Arabic. May be repeated: for credit 1 time (maximum 2 enrollments). May be convened with: ARB 595C. Usually offered: Fall, Spring.
