Description: Science and technology are prominent features of contemporary society. The sociology of knowledge, science, and technology are rapidly growing and increasingly important areas of inquiry in the social and behavioral sciences, arts, and humanities. This seminar will be an opportunity to read very broadly across social and political theory and its relations to science (both the natural and social) and knowledge. The goals of the course are to expose students to the various schools of thought, methodologies, and themes in the sociology of science and knowledge and the interdisciplinary field of science and technology studies, and to explore resources from which to develop research questions in these areas. Grading: Regular or alternative grades can be awarded for this course: A B C D E or S P C D E. Identical to: W S 696H; W S is home department. Usually offered: Spring.
