Description: Identification and classification of faunal remains from prehistoric and historic sites; investigation of the circumstances of faunal assemblage formation; introduction to quantitative and qualitative analysis of faunal data. Course work emphasizes hands-on experience in laboratory methods, analysis exercises and short research paper assignments. Graduate-level requirements include an additional long research paper and/or annotated bibliography. Grading: Regular grades are awarded for this course: A B C D E. May be convened with: ANTH 472.
