Description: An analysis of historical and current issues affecting American Indians and Alaska Natives. Topics may vary and will focus on the exchange of scholarly information and/or secondary research, usually in a small group setting. Topic areas will be discussed within the framework of federal treaties with tribal nations, the federal trust relationship, sovereignty and self-determination, federal Indian policies, jurisdiction and federal tribal recognition, and Indian identity. Grading: Regular or alternative grades can be awarded for this course: A B C D E or S P C D E. May be repeated: for credit 2 times (maximum 3 enrollments). Usually offered: Fall, Spring, Summer.
