Description: Historical and cultural background, and contemporary economic, political and social organization of indigenous and non-indigenous groups in rural Mexico. Primarily concerned with the people of the countryside, and the Mexican revolution. Graduate-level requirements include graduate students to read and critique graduate readings as well as 10 ethnohistories/ethnographies of Mexico of their choice (approved by instructor) as part of their biweekly memo readings.
