An introduction to theories and methods of stage and studio lighting and design. This course presents the basic theories and techniques for lighting theatrical, television and film productions with attention given to the use of light as an artistic expression. Included is basic electricity, light color theory, the design and function of the basic lighting instruments in various productions, and design procedures. Method of instruction includes lectures, laboratory demonstrations and exercises. Students will be required to complete work as members of lighting crews on various productions, and design lighting for pieces in the Henderson Dance concert and an HTV production. Prerequisite: THA 2573.
