A study of the literature of those cultures not included in the Western tradition. Texts read in the course will include those by Africans, Asians, Latin Americans, and writings from the nations of Islam. Readings may include classical non-Western works at the discretion of the instructor; however, the major focus of the course will be on more contemporary texts to provide students with some insight into divergent world views as seen through modern non-Western literature.
