This course is designed for teachers in the field who are seeking certification. The National Council of Teachers of English standards and state curriculum standards will be a primary focus as well as current research based strategies. It will include the use of a variety of strategies, texts and approaches to promote students independence in content area reading. It will facilitate application of strategies for assessing student learning, selecting reading materials.
