The first course in a two semester sequence of organic chemistry. An emphasis on mechanisms and organic reactions is central to the study. The laboratory portion of the course will focus on the preparation and synthesis, purification, and then analysis of organic compounds. Instrumentation and modern laboratory apparatus will be used. Prerequisites: NSCH 111 and NS-CH 112. (Offered Alternate years)
