The covenant with Israel, the Great Commission, the Apostolic Fathers and early apologists, the ecumenical councils, the monastic movement, the Reformation (Catholic and Protestant), the revivals of the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as the contemporary scene provide some of the backdrop for the study of evangelism.
