A course built on the fundamentals learned in Design & Lettering. Through the use of actual typographic design problems, the course introduces the student to the use of type as a basic element of graphic communication. This includes the principles which determine typeface selection (to visually communicate the desired effect) and the appreciation of letterforms. Typesetting and typographic layout on the computer are practiced in the classroom. Prerequisite: GRD 103, ART 205.
