This course explores ways of mediating the impact of chronic illness on the chronically ill person, the family/caregiver, the health care provider and the health system. Concepts of chronicity, wellness and illness roles, stigma, body image, powerlessness and empowerment are examined. Coping with pain, social isolation, altered mobility, fatigue and sexuality are discussed. No prerequisites.
