Specific problems include: poverty, welfare, the economy, education, health, transportation, consumer protection, environmental protection, and energy. It considers the interaction between government and interest groups in designing and implementing public policy and evaluates the thinking of those who have advocated and opposed the expansion of government responsibility for a wide range of social action.
