Special emphasis is placed on the losses and gains of the period in the context of such topics as the Cold War, McCarthyism, The Fifties, the revolts and travails of liberalism in the Sixties, Civil Rights, Rock and Roll, the Kennedy and Johnson Administrations, The Vietnam War, Nixon and Watergate, Jimmy Carter and restoring faith, The Reagan Revolution, the Clinton Presidency and impeachment, and the experience of the nineties to the problems and opportunities facing the Nation's third century.
