What is a nation, as opposed to a state or other ethnic communities Why does the "nation" command so muchof our identity The nation, unlike the state, is an entity that exists in the hearts and minds of its members and is a bond that must be sustained on a daily basis through imagining community-a project that the media are especially tasked with. Thinking of the "nation" as a media product, the course will examine its production(political economy), textual construction and its consumption/reproduction.
