This seminar course will focus on the molecular biology of viruses and subviral entities such as prions and viroids. Topics will include viral infection and replication, morphology, oncogenesis, and virus-host interactions. Viruses of epidemiologic and biotechnological importance, including new and emergent viruses, will be emphasized. Prerequisites: Biology 255 (Cell Biology & Genetics Lab), Biology 260 (Genetics) and Biology 265 (Cell Biology) and Biology 353, or 357 or 358 or permission of the instructor. Offered occasionally.
