This course is designed to increase students' understanding of the cultural diversity that exists in the United States. It will explore: (1) the historical view of pluralism and how it took shape, (2) how it affects people' s interaction with one another (particular emphasis will be given to concepts such as racism, sexism, ethnicity, culture, class prejudice, ethnocentrism, literature and religion to observe how these help shape a n individual? ? identity a nd society 's conceptualization of culture), and (3) the churc h's response to pluralism (how Christians should explore the claims of biblical faith in light of pluralism).
