This course examines indigenous African faith systems on the African Continent and African derived religions in the New World. This course focuses on a description of African cosmology, rituals and practices, and a selected examination of African religion as a social force on the African continent and the Diaspora. While recognizing the unique characteristics of the various African ethnic groups, the course presents evidence of a coherent unity of spiritual systems in indigenous sub-Saharan Africa.
