In this course students learn to organize and construct effective essays and related compositions, beginning with personal writing and moving to public writing. Students explore ideas and study essay structure, thesis development, organization, paragraph structure, sentence skills, vocabulary, and effective writing techniques as well as analyze the writings of others. There is a basic introduction to logical thought, analysis, research techniques, and MLA style. Students who score below cutoff on Crossroads College screening take the course for 4 credits to allow for remediation. Offered: yearly. Picker, Burgstaler
