Surveys of major ideas basic to the intellectual, historic, and artistic traditions of Western Culture. Courses included: The Ancient Legacy (alternate Fall semesters). Early Mesopotamian, Hebrew, Greek, Roman and Christain history and thought; The Medieval Legacy (alternate Fall semesters). Explores literacy, philogophical, scientific, and political aspects of the European and Islamic Middle Ages--500-1500 A.D.; The Modern Legacy (Spring semester). European and Western history, culture and thought from the early modern period (1600 A.D.) to contemporary times. Note: 200 and 300 level courses are designed and announced semester by semester.
