Topics include the nomenclature, organic transformations, mechanisms, stereochemistry, spectroscopy, and the chemistry of alcohols, carbonyls, carboxylic acid derivatives, amines, and carbohydrates. This course emphasizes the importance and application of functional group organic chemistry in living systems. (3-0-3) Offered every semester. Prerequisite: CHM 241 or (both CHM 245 and CHM 246).
