2 hrs. (Two, 2-hour class periods). The course consists of Instructions on the rules, techniques, and formats of effective military communications through military correspondence and briefings. The course covers the mission and functions of the various military branches. Students receive instruction on the organization, mission and weapons of the rifle squad, platoon, and company, along with being familiarized with the organization of the battalion, brigade, and divisional size units. The principles of war are analyzed to determine their proper employment. The confluence and interaction of military affairs with diplomatic, political, social, economic, and intellectual trends in society are addressed. Students are also provided instruction in map reading, which includes grid, scale and distance, direction, azimuth and back azimuth, elevation and relief. Prerequisites: MSC 101 and MSC 102 ( Offered Fall)
