This course combines activities designed to help students develop an intermediate level proficiency in oral and written communication skills through a study of the values and attitudes of the Francophone world. The course is conducted entirely in French. The language acquisition component focuses on the following: a) improving students' facility in speaking and writing French within 'real-life' contexts; b) analyzing the linguistic components of a speech sample: phonological, morphological, and syntactic; and c) expanding vocabulary and improving pronunciation and the use of grammatical structures. The area studies component comparing and contrasting the cultural values and attitudes of the Francophone and the Anglophone worlds. Prerequisite: LFRE 0104 or equivalent.
