An exploration of theories and research in the study of emotion. Topics to be covered include historical and cultural influences on the understanding of emotion, current theoretical explanations of emotion, research on the elements of emotion, issues of development, and other topics such as emotional regulation, emotional intelligence and the role of emotion in cognition, personality and disorder. This is a seminar style course. It fulfills the capstone requirement for the psychology major. Prerequisites: PSYC 0101 and senior standing and at lest six hours of 300-level psychology courses or permission of instructor.
