This course provides an overview of the land use/law field by introducing the student to the highlights of the history of zoning, and the impacts of courts case law on land use development decisions. The student will learn how to interpret and prepare land use court case review. Specific topics of the course include: how constitutional law governs land use decision making; the impacts of police power, eminent domain, and aesthetic controls on planning practice; and the effects of exclusionary practices on zoning districts. Prerequisites: GARP 0105 and GARP 0106.
