One unit. This course will examine the behavior of American businesses as well as the interaction of businesses with government and society. The institutional structures of business and government will be discussed. Key issues regarding the role of business within the political, social, and natural environments will be explored. The philosophy of ethical behavior will permeate all aspects of the course. Emphasis will be placed on twentieth century issues, discussed within the framework of American economic and political history during that time. Offered fall semester.
