One unit. This is a course in basic Spanish designed for those already working in or planning to enter the health care professions. Students will learn a specialized vocabulary and study cultural situations directly related to caring for Spanish-speaking patients. The course is taught in Spanish. Both undergraduate and graduate students may take this course with permission of their advisors. This course is appropriate for those with 0-3 years of previous experience with the language. It is not appropriate for native speakers. Offered as required.
