One unit. This course examines high points in the development of anthropological theory from the nineteenth to the twenty-fi rst century. Among the major schools of thought included are nineteenth century evolutionism, the Boasian reaction, British and French social anthropology, neo-evolutionism, cultural materialism, symbolic anthropology, political economy, gender theory, practice theory, and post-modernism.
