Introduction to the structure, reactivity, and spectroscopic methods in the study of metalloproteins from an inorganic prospective. The importance of these enzymes is discussed in regard to drug design and understanding of diseases resulting from mutations. Enzymes covered include hemoglobin, myoglobin and hemerythrin, cytochrome P-450, zinc fingers, super oxide dismutase, hemocyanin, cis-platinum and nitrogenase. Prerequisite: CHEM 422 Introduction to Biochemistry and Lab Corequisite: CHEM 414 Inorganic Chemistry
