This course introduces the principles of conservation biology with an emphasis on ecological processes operating at population, community and ecosystem levels of organization. Threats to biological diversity, ranging from species introduction to habitat destruction an conservation solutions such as the design of protected areas and conservation legislation will be covered. Prerequisite: BIOL 201 Cell and Molecular Biology; BIOL 220 Principles of Genetics; BIOL 324 Ecology. Offered as a non-required biology restrictive elective.
