A development of the fundamental principles of chemistry and their application. Chemical nomenclature, stoichiometry, atomic structure, bonding theories, thermochemistry, periodic properties, solution calculations, gas laws and the properties of solids and liquids are among the topics discussed in depth. Emphasis will be placed on problem solving skills to better prepare students for careers in chemistry and related life science fields. Prerequisite: Chemistry Majors or Special Permission from the Department Chair Corequisites: MATH 200 Calculus I and CHEM 113 Chemistry Laboratory I
