S Focuses on the social forces that generated industrial capitalism. Emphasis will be on comparative social structures and their meaning for the nature and quality of life. The transformation from medieval to mercantilist to industrial capitalism will be analyzed in detail. Possibilities of post-industrial society will be discussed.
