Encourages students to develop a critical analysis of the criminal justice system in America. Emphasis is placed on an investigation of social order and the notion of 'justice' asexamined by the various forms of social institutions. The significance of law, state and property relations, and the administration of justice is explored. An overview of police, the courts, and corrections is also examined. Offered each spring.
