Examines, from an interdisciplinary vantage point, crucial social issues in American history such as slavery and issues of racial equality, and the status of women. This course explores the religious influences, background and context of these social issues which have had a profound effect on American history and continue to reverberate in American society today. Prerequisites: completed at least six semester hours in history, religious studies, political science, English, interdisciplinary studies, philosophy or sociology; sophomore/junior/senior status.
