For example, students discuss issues of bilingualism/biculturalism, legal statutes and liability, certification and quality assurance, confidentiality, accountability, minority status of American Sign Language and Deaf Culture, oppression and empowerment of the Deaf Community, the interpreter as a cross-cultural mediator and other contemporary issues.
