This course introduces students to foundations of cultural and literary analysis of contemporary poetic texts from Spanish and Latin American authors. Students will continue to develop oral and writing proficiency in Spanish through a critical analysis of a cariety of poetic forms. Topics will include gender and sexuality, ethnicity, transatlantic identities, migration, colonialism, popular consciousness and revolution, and human rights. These topics correspond to issues that will be explored in depth in upper-division culture and literature courses. Prerequisite: SPA 197.
